Cloud computing

as an effective protection against ransomware attacks

In the era of digital transformation, ransomware attacks become one of the most serious threats emanating from the Internet. Effective protection against cyberthreats requires regular implementation of modern solutions. Migration to the cloud may be a panacea for the shortcomings related with insufficient levels of cybersecurity in companies.

Cloud provider level security

One of the main benefits of migrating systems to the cloud is the fact that cloud computing service providers are responsible for the comprehensive security of the IT infrastructure. They possess the necessary knowledge, experience and tools to protect data against cyberthreats, including ransomware attacks. Advanced security techniques, including anomaly detection or Security Operation Center (SOC) enable early detection of threats and potential attacks attempts.

Migration to a cloud environment ensures the implementation of comprehensive security measures on multiple levels. Cloud service providers offer network-level solution that effectively secure the infrastructure. With appropriate firewalls, such as protection against DDoS attacks, preventing such attacks becomes easier. This security measures work synergistically to provide the highest level of protection against threats.

Business continuity and quick service restoration

An interruption in business operations results in losses, which is an obvious fact exploited by criminals who infiltrate IT systems and encrypt data. Is the solution to succumb to extortion and pay the ransom? Unfortunately, research shows that paying the ransom does not guarantee data recovery. Moreover, paying does not solve the problem of downtime in the company. So what should be done? Prevent! – asserts Mariusz Juranek, Sales Director at Polcom.

In case of ransomware attacks, response time is crucial. By migrating critical business resources to the cloud, companies may significantly shorten the time of restoring systems and regain access to data. Cloud service provider, through regularly performed data replication and Disaster Recovery services, enable smooth application and production environment deployment in case of unpredictable failures or security incidents.

For this reason, migrating resources to the cloud can be a beneficial option for organizations, especially those susceptible to cyberattacks. Another argument in favor of this solution is the fact that the number of successfully conducted hacking attacks is increasing in Poland, among which ransomware attacks are the most popular.

Implementing modern technological solutions that provide multi-level security, increase scalability and flexibility, and allow for quick restoration of normal business operations are definitely reasons to consider a business strategy that includes migrating key systems to the cloud.
