SMEs and cyber security

Find out more

Security of resources has become particularly important in times of increasing threat from hackers. Cybercriminals demand ransoms reaching significant amounts to unlock access to sensitive data. Financial losses, loss of reputation in the eyes of customers, or legal liability resulting from the possibility of data leakage are challenges that small and medium-sized enterprises may not be able to meet. What options do they have?

Ochrona przed cyberatakami

Although entrepreneurs understand the situation, unfortunately, they are not always able to cope with it.

For SMEs, it is a real challenge. Providing employees with the appropriate level of training, employing high-class specialists, and securing IT infrastructure is simply impossible for some companies, due to lack of financial resources or lack of necessary knowledge for implementation – says Mariusz Juranek, Sales Director at Polcom.

So what can small and medium-sized enterprises do? They can use the cloud model, which provides an adequate level of data security.

Budget solution

Currently, a significant percentage of companies operate online and choose modern technologies to help achieve their goals, such as building a competitive advantage. However, conducting business online requires investment and a well-thought-out business model, including specialized IT teams focused on cybersecurity within the company. In the current employee-dominated market, this is becoming increasingly difficult.

On the other hand, migrating to the cloud allows the responsibility for protecting necessary resources to be transferred to the provider, significantly relieving the company. Cloud computing eliminates the need for expenses associated with maintaining its own infrastructure and hiring specialists needed to manage it.

Security as a service

The SME sector in terms of resource protection has needs that are not much different from those of large corporations. The cloud service provides a high level of data security, and providers offer a range of solutions to support security. One of them is the Security Operation Center, which provides continuous monitoring of the client’s infrastructure and instant response before the detected incident becomes a serious problem for the company.

In summary, migrating resources to the cloud enables maintaining a high level of data security, minimizing the risk of interruptions in continuity of operations or suffering the consequences – especially financial – of hacker attacks.
