IT Infrastructure as a service

What is an IaaS solution based on?

With the dynamic development of new technologies and the rapidly advancing process of digitization, organizations are looking for new IT optimization solutions. As a result, they are increasingly turning to IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service) solutions. Infrastructure as a Service is one of the basic models of cloud solutions, along with PaaS, or platform as a service, and SaaS , or software as a service. But what exactly is IaaS and what are the key advantages of this model?

IaaS is based on the virtualization of resources. Cloud solution providers create virtual instances of servers that are made available to customers via the Internet. Customers can manage them, install software on them and scale the resources according to their current needs. This gives them full control over the infrastructure, while not worrying about the physical hardware layer.

Flexibility, security and manageability

One of the most important advantages of an IaaS solution is the ability to scale resources according to current needs. This allows companies to easily adapt their infrastructure to the increase or decrease in demand for computing power. The solution allows quick response to changing market conditions and ensures optimal use of resources.

In addition, Infrastructure as a Service provides access to advanced security tools, which protect data stored in the cloud. Cloud providers have security features such as SOC, or Security as a Service, data encryption or regular backups.

Moreover, by using an IaaS solution, the responsibility for managing the physical infrastructure lies with the third-party provider. Customers, on the other hand, focus solely on the core of their business, without worrying about the proper administration of the server environment.

IT management – knowledge and experience

Knowing where to get IT resources outside the organization and what to put in the hands of an external provider is a demanding process preceded by an in-depth needs analysis. It is necessary to look forward and strategically. An external partner can, among other things, provide the company with know-how, provide maintenance support, offer cloud solutions, cyber security services or support compliance processes. It all depends on the company’s needs, which should first be analyzed in depth. What is certain, however, is that by putting some resources in the hands of a provider, the company can operate more nimbly and effectively – argues Michal Sikora, IT Coordinator at Poczta Kwiatowa.
