Business applications

in a service model

The business world is constantly evolving, and one of the key factors that is giving a boost to businesses is the migration of corporate environments to the cloud. The results of a survey conducted by Polcom and Computerworld unequivocally confirm that SME entrepreneurs see huge benefits from digital transformation and moving IT to a service model. So what are the key factors that are driving more and more companies to migrate their systems to the cloud? The clue is in the ability of cloud computing to ensure business application continuity and reduce the costs associated with maintaining an efficient IT environment.

Business application availability

Business Continuity is a crucial element for every organization, regardless of size. With cloud migration, businesses can enjoy the confidence that their applications will run stably 24/7, year-round. This means that business processes, such as automation, production management or customer service, will not be disrupted by interruptions related to access to production systems. This is key to efficiency, customer satisfaction and building competitive advantages.

Faster implementation and lower costs

Implementing ERP systems, such as SAP or IFS, can be time-consuming and expensive. However, with cloud computing, companies can reduce the solution implementation time to a minimum. A ready-made cloud computing environment enables faster response to changing business needs and demands for computing power. In addition, IT infrastructure maintenance costs become more predictable and optimized, as the cloud provider manages servers, upgrades and implements appropriate IT security measures.

New business models

Migrating systems to the cloud not only improves the efficiency of existing business processes, but also opens the door to new business models. Companies gain the ability to adapt more easily to changing market conditions and experiment with new products and services, resulting in increased competitiveness.

Moving the development of new products or implementations of business applications – such as SAP HANA – to a cloud platform in the PaaS model has a much lower investment risk and allows to significantly accelerate the process of delivering a new product to users or the implementation itself. The availability, agility, flexibility and scalability of cloud resources allows opening new business or implementation projects also as tests, which is difficult to say in the case of the on-premise model (purchase of IT infrastructure for a business project). In principle, any service such as payment services or a mobile payment solution can be transferred from traditional infrastructure to the cloud model – says Mariusz Juranek, Commercial Director at Polcom.
