Cyberattacks - awareness is high

But what about prevention?

Market research shows that Poles are increasingly aware of the threats posed by hacker attacks, but paradoxically, many of them still do not follow basic security rules online.

Not only large companies and corporations are at risk of cyberattacks, but also small and medium-sized enterprises. And they have not been prepared for this so far. Many of them have to change their business models and open up to solutions that ensure security online.

The scale of the problem is enormous

The pandemic has reorganized business models and many companies have been forced to implement remote work. For many employees, working from home is a huge advantage, which is why some companies offer remote or hybrid work. However, the employer should be sure that data and applications are fully secure. Unfortunately, research does not inspire optimism.

According to data from Altkom Akademia, only 42 percent of employees declare that they know and follow the rules of responsible Internet use and safe remote work, but as much as 10 percent of them do not comply with the company’s security policy, for example when pressed for time. The scale of the problem is enormous – according to Cybersecurity Ventures, in 2021, losses caused by cybercriminals amounted to $6 trillion, compared to $3 trillion in 2015. By 2025, global losses caused by cybercrime will reach $10.5 trillion annually – says Piotr Szypułka, Director of the Maintenance Department at Polcom.

Digital solutions in companies

Piotr Szypułka emphasizes that openness to digitization and new technologies can effectively support companies in the fight against cyberattacks.

During remote work, there is nothing else to rely on but digital solutions. Well-designed IT infrastructure – for example, in the cloud – a complete and constantly evolving security policy in the company, and developed scenarios for security incidents are the basis for the functioning of a technologically advanced company in 2022.
