Cloud in the context of cybersecurity
Find out more
The uncertain geopolitical situation, the specter of an energy crisis, and rising inflation have a direct impact on the functioning of internal IT departments. The significant increase in cyber threats forces organizations to change their previous mode of operation and take steps to properly secure their key resources.
Cyber-challenges
Digitization is a driving force for the further development of enterprises, but it also carries the risk of hacker attacks. Cybercrime is becoming an increasingly serious threat. Recent events of the last few months appear to IT managers more as challenges than opportunities. According to the latest report from Polcom and Intel “IT investments in times of crisis. Cloud and new technologies. Perspective for 2022-2023”, 91% of those surveyed are concerned about the increase in cyber threats.
For this reason, the aspect of cybersecurity has become crucial for entrepreneurs regardless of the size of the organization. Currently, companies process more and more data, which must be properly secured. This applies especially to the protection of sensitive personal data.
Business in the face of cyber threats
19 percent of all surveyed organizations admitted to having knowledge about an attack carried out on a business partner’s systems, and 15 percent of enterprises experienced an attack on their IT systems.
It is not surprising, therefore, that 53 percent of those surveyed have already implemented cybersecurity solutions. One of them is to transfer responsibility for securing sensitive corporate resources to an external provider. 58 percent of companies declare that the cloud has increased the security of their internal systems and data.
External cloud service providers already have the necessary know-how in defending against cyber-attacks – regardless of the size and level of advancement of their clients’ infrastructure.
IT systems are only a small part of a very complex organism. Over the years, in the industry, I have witnessed attempts of hacking attacks, and this has shown me that the knowledge of specialists acquired over the years, supported by technology, allows for effective protection of the client’s environment – says Piotr Szypułka, Director of the Infrastructure Maintenance Department at Polcom.
