Building Management System

The BMS system operating in Polcom’s server rooms is characterized by functional graphic interface and visualization of the installation, thanks to which it allows to control the operation and parameters of individual devices, warning in advance of possible problems.

 

Polcom BMS – what is it?

When answering the question of what is a BMS, it is impossible not to focus on its functionalities. It is a comprehensive that supports the engineering team in managing the infrastructure located in data centers. All the systems in the inventory of our data center are integrated with the Building Management System through which IT specialists are able to manage individual subsystems, control their correctness of working, and in case of anomalies – react quickly and restore them to the proper state.

As a result of using communication network and transmission protocol, Building Management System provides full exchanges of information between different systems, such as control of thermal comfort and indoor lightening  monitoring of utility consumption, control of acces to a different zones, and early warning of the fire alarm. System integration allows efficient and cost-effective management of the entire facility from a single location, which in case of Polcom Data Center is the monitoring center.

It is called he heart of our data center – it is from here that operators continuously 24/7/365 supervise the operation of equipment including, among others, switchboards, fuel tanks, air handling units, generator, UPS, drycoolers or chillers, as well as temperature and humidity parameters in individual kiosks and server chambers.

Additionally in the monitoring center both in Skawina and Alwernia, thanks to the proprietary of the CCTV system, there is professional  monitoring of rooms and strategic areas located inside, as well as outside each of our facilities

Thanks to the coupling of the BMS system and CCTV monitoring, it has become possible to respond instantly to unforeseen events. The systems provide continuous surveillance and recording of events with specific functional parameters, including identification of people and recording of clear material regardless of the quality of lighting in the room.

Moreover, the significant competitive advantage of such a solution is also influenced by the fact that Polcom has its own team of automation technicians and engineers. As a result, accident may be predicted in advance, and in case of possible faults repair time is reduced to a minimum.
