The right investments may help many businesses survive the recession
Find out which ones?
Despite the visible economic slowdown in Poland, companies still have high hopes for digital transformation and will continue to invest in IT. Such forecasts result from the opinions of experts and market analyses. A Gartner survey shows that IT sector spending will increase by 4% this year, which means only a slight decrease from pre-recession forecasts.
Companies see more and more benefits arising from digitalization, thus they invest in the development of IT departments, and this trend is not slowing down.
The proper technology investments
The scale of challenges that have emerged on the horizon of companies in the last three years is high. This causes uncertainty among entrepreneurs, but it should not come as a surprise. Fluctuations in the economy, crises, or geopolitical disturbances always have an impact on business.
During a period of economic slowdown, cost-cutting is necessary. However, it is equally important to make the right technological investments, as IT departments can better prepare their organizations for difficult times. This can help them maintain a competitive advantage or, in the worst-case scenario, help them stay in the market – says Anna Kulikowska, Business Development Manager at Polcom.
A way out of recession
Polcom and Intel’s report “IT investments for the development of Polish companies in 2021-2022. Cloud and new technologies” shows that 93 percent of surveyed companies are taking action in the area of digital transformation, and 44 percent declared that their expenses for these activities will be between 10 and 50%.
It is a myth that during a recession, the easiest and most sensible way to cut costs is in IT. Even if a recession affects a company, proper investments can help increase efficiency and productivity, among other benefits – emphasizes Anna Kulikowska.
