Paradoxically, despite the wave of layoffs in the West, there is a shortage of qualified IT specialists in the country. Market data shows that Polish companies are struggling with a shortage of thousands of IT industry workers. The conclusion is simple – opportunities must be sought elsewhere.
Deficiency of experts in the Polish IT market
The Polish Economic Institute has published a study which shows that Poland is lacking nearly 150,000 IT specialists to achieve similar employment levels in the industry as neighbouring European economies.
Despite the economic slowdown, the demand for IT experts is enormous. Many companies lack the necessary know-how. Currently, many organizations in Poland are concerned that they will have to limit IT investments as a result.
The negative effects of the lack of qualified workers in the IT industry are evident. One in five IT sector companies had to refuse a project due to a lack of sufficient personnel. Moreover, according to data collected by Polcom and Intel, “IT Investments in Times of Crisis: Cloud and New Technologies. Perspective for 2022-2023”, 85% of medium and large companies in the manufacturing sector face challenges related to a lack of competence and know-how. This is a serious problem for the Polish economy – says Piotr Szypułka, Director of the IT Infrastructure Department at Polcom.
Outsourcing is the answer to the labour market crisis
The use of services from an external provider is gaining importance in today’s times. Companies are increasingly opting for IT solutions in a service model. In this way, despite the shortage of their own IT specialists, they gain the necessary scalability, data security, and guarantee of resource recovery in the event of unforeseeable events to function properly. Furthermore, the cloud services provider becomes a partner that entrepreneurs look to for missing know-how.
