Even seemingly harmless hacker attacks can lead to a series of unpleasant consequences for a company. Recently, there have been numerous incidents of this kind, and it doesn’t help that criminals are inventing increasingly difficult-to-detect attacks.
Periodically conducted rankings regarding cybersecurity show that Poland doesn’t fare well compared to other European countries. Polish companies are subject to hacker attacks on average 500 times per week.
As experts’ analyses indicate, we are most frequently targeted by remote access trojans such as AgentTesla, infostealers like Formbook, and various types of banking trojans. In September of this year, Trickbot was the most commonly detected threat worldwide, while Formbook posed the most significant risk in Poland. The threat of ransomware attacks has also significantly increased, posing a particular danger to companies that rely on continuous access to up-to-date data – explains Marcin Pepaś, Director of the Implementation and Sales Support Department at Polcom.
The most common attacks are ransomware and DDoS
According to the latest data, ransomware and DDoS attacks have made a comeback, all due to the pandemic and the remote work of many individuals. Cybercriminals exploit the lack of adequate security measures and the carelessness of employees.
Ransomware – also known as ransom attacks. They involve encrypting corporate data, and hackers demand money for its recovery. Attackers often target companies in the financial, agricultural, and healthcare sectors.
DDoS attack – attacks conducted from multiple computers simultaneously against computer systems or network services. Their goal is to completely disrupt operations.
