KMC-Service is a Polish logistic operator providing a comprehensive service of the supply chain. The company’s offer includes services within 6 areas: storage, warehouse services, Value Added Services, national and international freight forwarding, logistic advisory services and BTS warehouse construction services, and recently also e-commerce services. The company has been operating for over 17 years and it specializes in contractual logistics, i.e. designing and implementing tailor-made logistic solutions. In 2018, KMC-Services was awarded in the Gazele Biznesu contest.

Challenge

Dynamic development of KMC-Services and extension of the scope of provided services contributed to the implementation of a few new warehouse applications that influence the functioning and organization of work of the whole enterprise.

Therefore, the it was necessary to create adequate IT infrastructure with efficient computational power. The investment costs necessary for the development and maintenance of the server room were high, that is why KMC-Services decided to use a cloud-based infrastructure model.

Solution

Cloud-based IT infrastructure significantly influences optimization of investment costs related to the maintenance of one’s own server room.

Polcom gave access to computational power which makes it possible to control the costs and change the balance point of investment financing to the infrastructure (change of CAPEX into OPEX). Thanks to that, KMC-Services incurs the cost for the actual use of resources, whereas the IT platform guarantees the company full scalability and flexibility. Reliability of IT environment guarantees security and continuity of operations of all administrative systems, which is frequently difficult to reach from the company’s infrastructure level.
