Find out more!
The latest report by Polcom and Intel, developed in cooperation with Computerworld, titled ‘IT Investments for the Development of Polish Companies in 2021-2022: Cloud and New Technologies,’ shows how Polish companies have changed their way of functioning over the past two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is not the only challenge that companies have faced, and it appears that new challenges are on the horizon. Companies are aware of this and know how to deal with them.
The data from the report suggests that cloud computing enables improved operations for many enterprises. Moving business applications such as ERP and HR (43 percent of responses), office applications (42 percent), and CRM systems (36 percent) outside the organization can bring numerous benefits to companies. In 2022, companies may also consider migrating their existing data protection solutions and tools (38 percent).
Entrepreneurs are aware of the threats
The respondents surveyed for the report were asked about factors that they believe could hinder business development in 2022. Nearly half of them (49 percent) highlighted a lack of up-to-date know-how and competencies in innovation. The survey participants also identified legal and industry regulations (56 percent of responses), challenges in ensuring the continuity of system and application operations (45 percent), and data decentralization (28 percent) as potential hindrances.
What about cyber-attacks?
According to Marcin Pepas, Director of Implementation and Sales Support Department at Polcom, due to the increasing scale of cyber-attacks, ensuring proper data security has become a significant challenge for companies. Referring to data from the report, businesses are aware of these threats. 62 percent of the respondents identify this factor as a potential hindrance to further company growth.
Ransomware software is becoming increasingly common, and attackers target key sectors of the economy, including the financial industry, agriculture sector, and healthcare services. Ransomware has recently emerged as a sophisticated criminal industry, as attackers employ increasingly advanced methods to target victims, and their revenues can reach millions of zloty.
How to obtain external support in IT processes?
According to the Polcom and Intel report, an effective IT manager should know where to source the necessary IT resources externally from the organization.
Knowing where to source IT resources externally from the organization and what to entrust to an external provider is a process that requires thorough analysis of needs. It is important to take a future-oriented and strategic approach. An external partner can provide the company with expertise, offer service support, provide cloud solutions, cybersecurity services, or support compliance-related processes. It all depends on the company’s needs, which should be thoroughly analyzed first. However, it is certain that by entrusting certain resources to a provider, the company can operate more agilely and effectively – emphasizes Michał Sikora, IT Coordinator at Poczta Kwiatowa.
