Business after the pandemic
What has changed?
In May of this year, the end of the epidemic state was officially announced in the Republic of Poland. Over the past two years, businesses have undergone significant changes, with some strengthening their position in the market, while others did not survive the crisis. Changes have occurred both in terms of processes and in the way of work and communication.
According to the report by Polcom and Intel, over 90 percent of companies are taking actions related to the digitalization process. This demonstrates that agile and modern enterprises are turning challenges and potential threats into opportunities for growth.
Popularity of remote work
The pandemic and numerous lockdowns have caused many employees to transition to remote work, not so much by choice but out of necessity. Some have already returned to offices, but there are companies that still offer their employees the option of working from home, and many are happy to take advantage of it.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the resulting shift to remote work, we have somewhat transitioned from a technological village to a technological jungle. Managers increasingly lack personal acquaintance with their teams to the extent they used to. Teams are becoming more geographically dispersed, which is valuable for the company but limits direct social relationships. Assessing team performance now relies more on collaboration, motivation, and very soft forms of control – says Maciej Kawecki, President of the Institute of Polish Future in honor of Stanisław Lem.
Cloud solutions as a way to solve problems
Many companies have discovered that a way to tackle emerging challenges is by outsourcing certain areas of IT to an external provider.
A common response of companies to the pandemic was, among other things, the migration of systems to the cloud, which enabled efficient communication and ensured business continuity despite the exceptional circumstances. The companies that faced the most difficulties and challenges were those that had not previously planned or prepared for such actions – emphasizes Mariusz Juranek, Sales Director at Polcom.
On the other hand, Marcin Pepaś, Director of Implementation and Sales Support at Polcom, adds that the cloud has become the foundation for the company’s development.
Well-designed IT infrastructure in the cloud, a comprehensive and continuously evolving security policy in the company, and developed incident response scenarios have become the foundation for the functioning of a technologically advanced company. Ensuring data security, business continuity, and securing the supply chain will continue to be a priority for companies not only during challenging pandemic times but also in the coming years.
